Project Sonus – telephony upgrade POSTPONEMENT

MESSAGE FROM PROFESSOR IAN MARSHALL
DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR (ACADEMIC)

Unfortunately final testing of the upgrade for next Tuesday has uncovered a significant technical licensing issue that has forced us to delay the change. Our primary project goal is to minimise risk to the telephony service while we upgrade the infrastructure. The risk of proceeding at present with the licensing issue unresolved has been deemed unacceptable.

Therefore the switchover will NOW NOT occur between 07:00 and 08:30 on 22nd October 2013, so there will be no interruption for VoIP users. The freeze on changes on all telephony will remain in place until we are able to decide on a new date for the upgrade meaning that no telephony changes or additions will be allowed at present. The new dates for freeze and change will be communicated as soon as they are available.

Please email John Rogerson, the ITS project manager, if you have any questions about the project. We trust the new service will offer significant improvements over time. Remember to look out for more details via the Project Sonus link as they are released.

Regards

Prof Ian M Marshall
