Telephony

Network Services provide two fixed line services and a mobile service.

The legacy phone system is a Siemens system providing analogue and digital phone services.  The Siemens system is more constrained as to where it can be installed requiring a dedicated cable from the phone back to one of 5 phone switches around Campus.

The newer phone system which is gradually being rolled out across campus is a Cisco VoIP system.  VoIP services are delivered over standard network cabling giving far more flexibility over the legacy Siemens system being able to installed almost anywhere on (and off) campus.

For mobile phones, the University currently has a contract with Vodafone and Network Services can provide basic handsets, smart phones, data dongles and sims for many other devices.
